50th reunion

Today is a special day, it is the 50th class reunion of my graduating class. Wow, can you believe it, 50 years. I won't say it doesn't seem like it was a long time ago that we graduated, but it certainly doesn't feel like 50 years.
We will gather today at Marti Willits camp on Hunt Lake and just enjoy seeing and visiting with those people we knew then as young adults. Then we wanted to be considered grown up, now we would love to be young adults again.
Lord, please favor us with good weather, and be with and confort those who have lost loved ones in the past few days. May we enjoy each others company.

It is cooler

I didn't have my air conditioner on today, I didn't need it. It went up to about 80 degrees but then it rained and cooled it off. We need the break, to get a good nights sleep, and to catch up on the jobs around the house. I need to wash my car, mow the lawn, and get some exercise. I can't do any of these things when it is raining or at 90+ degrees all of the time.
We were fortunate that we didn't have a mudslide like Bolton Landing had. I was asked to make a plan for such a thing as that with the Emergency Management Committee. I think that is a good idea, I will work on that. Maybe there are many things we need to plan for. This changing world makes us do many things different.

That time of year

It is that time of year again. I see Harley's and Honda's all over the place, at the restaurants, the bars, the soft ice cream vendors.
I still remember how much fun it was to ride my Honda Gold Wing. June was the motorcyclist month, the weather was great, and everyone came to Lake George for the Americade.
The last year I owned the Gold Wing I only drove it 300 miles so I sold it. What a big mistake that was. Soon after, the company I worked for didn't want me around any more because I was 60 years old, so I retired rather than going insane with the harassment from my boss. I have kicked myself many times for selling the bike. They represent great times, great people, and lots of good clean fun. I recommend them to everyone.
